Easter is here with us again and all too soon, president Akufo Addo is worried over the spate of fatal accidents costing the precious lives of innocent Ghanaians.
In a crucial interaction with drivers in the Kumasi metropolis, the president is hopeful that the Easter season could be accident-free if only drivers took road regulations so carefully.
“This Easter, we should make it a matter of concern that this year, the accidents on our roads during the Easter period, we’ll bring them down. Everyone should decide that we are going to observe the rules on the road and make this Easter the best in terms of casualties and accidents on our roads this year. This is my biggest wish I put before you. Help me realise it,” he stated.
The Accra-Kumasi highway remains the hardest hit with all the fatal accidents in Ghana today with cause of accidents often linked to speeding and overtaking. Meanwhile as at 2016 alone, close to 11,378 accidents were recorded - a development which makes Ghana’s roads one of the most dangerous in West Africa.
