There must be something about being Ghana's first university that make University of Ghana (UG) one of the top in Africa.

YEN.com.gh has come across the 2017 ranking of African universities and it is only UG that is making Ghana proud.
Ghana's premier tertiary institution failed to make it to the top 20 in the latest ranking of African universities.
The top educational institution was ranked 21st in Africa beating the only other Ghanaian university to appear on the list, Kwame Nkrumah Technology of Science and Technology (KNUST).
KNUST was ranked 30th.
Despite the troubles that faced tertiary education in South Africa over the past months, the top half of the list is dominated by South African universities. among which are University of South Africa and University of Johannesburg.
Makere University in Uganda and University of Ibadan in Nigeria also managed to get higher ranking that any Ghanaian university in this year's list.
