The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Alexander Attivor Sawyer has opened up about the recent reports of blame-games and tensions in the party.
According to him, he shares the same sentiments with those expressing their displeasure with the party, and maintains that the NDC is still stronghold even though the Kwesi Botchway Committee is yet to present a report on the factors leading to the party’s defeat in the 2016 elections.
In an interview with Kessbenfm.com, Mr Attivor Sawyer indicated it would be helpful to aggrieved party loyalists if constituency offices of the NDC were opened to accepting the opinions of the supporters of the party.
He further noted that the Botchway Committee’s report will rather strengthen the party for the 2020 election period.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the party have cautioned party members to cease all media rants about the cause of the party’s defeat in Election 2016.
At a news conference on April 1, the Brong-Ahafo regional chairman of the NDC, Mr Opoku Atuahene said it was imperative that party members come together and present united front if the party was to make a comeback in 2020.
According to him, the party may lose its values and standing especially with its current position as opposition, if the internal vilifying of former government officials and the rising intra-party tensions don’t end.
