President Akufo-Addo has sworn in the new governor of the central bank, Dr Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison.
The ceremony, which took place in the official residence of the president, saw the BoG head being urged to ensure that the right fiscal measures are put in place to restore Ghana’s fragile economy.
“There is a big burden on us to revive the Ghanaian economy and put it on the path of growth and prosperity. I don’t have to tell you the significance of your role in that process. It is absolutely vital, and you, more than anybody else, will give confidence to the markets that Ghana is on the right path,” the President said.
Meanwhile, the resignation of the former BoG boss, Issahaku is feared to have shocked former vice president – Amissah Arthur – who described the development as unexpected.
