The Ghana Football Association has confirmed James Kwesi Appiah as the new Black Stars coach.

YEN can confirm that Mr Appiah has been handed a two-year contract.

"Appiah will be handed a two-year contract and will start his duties on May 1, 2017.

"He will also take full charge of the Local Black Stars,"  a statement released by the GFA reads.

Appiah will also be assigned two assistant coaches to help him execute his duties as coach of the main national team.

This will be the former Black Stars skipper's return to the senior national team as the coach. He headed the technical team of the Black Stars from 2012 to 2014.
