Nana Addo's weekend tour of the Ashanti Region was disappointing, Joseph Yammin the former deputy coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has said.
According to Mr Yammin, the executives of the New Patriotic Party failed to properly organize the president's first tour after the 2016 election victory.
He further indicated that the Jackson Park in Kumasi was barely filled, as many people have already regretted giving their vote to the NPP.
In a report by Ultimatefmonline.com, Mr Yammin was speaking on Abusua FM's morning show when he said, "‘the three- day tour of the President, very disappointing. The NPP executives in the region failed to mobilize the party’s supporters to converge at the venue. The organisation was very poor, it was a very bad organisational work by the executives if you ask me.
The second reason is that majority of people in the region are disappointed in the government and didn’t see the need to waste their time to go to Jackson’s Park.
How can a whole NPP fail to mobilize people to the rally grounds when the Vice President Alhaji Dr Bawumia, Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kyeremanteng and other party bigwigs were present, there is a question mark as to why the capacity of Jackson’s park was not filled."
Last weekend, President Nana Akufo-Addo visited the Ashanti Region as part of a new initiative to visit every region every weekend to establish a deeper relationship with the citizenry.
He called on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and also addressed sections of the media present, and spoke on the issues currently facing the country.
He further vowed to ensure that acts of violence and intimidation, especially those by the vigilante groups associated with the NPP will not be tolerated.
