Four teenagers in Takoradi in the West Region have been arrested by the police for allegedly attempting to use their fathers for money rituals, YEN.com.gh understands.
The teenagers are George Williams, a class five pupil aged 17, Egya Amoh, 17, Dankwa, 15 and Mister, 17, a report by Accra-based Starr FM said on Thursday.
The boys are said to have gone to meet a fetish priest at Effiakuma in Takoradi, with a view to making money quickly through rituals, a phenomenon that is popularly known as Sakawa.
The priest is said to given them a ring each to be worn on their fingers, with the instruction that once they misplace the ring, they should kill their fathers to start making money.
Williams reportedly lost his ring first, so he poured a powerful local detergent known as ‘akashie’ into his father’s stew in a bid to poison the man.
But his father is said to have detected that something was amiss with the food after tasting it.
He is said to have angrily confronted Williams' mother, who denied trying to poison him.
Some elders were reportedly called to interrogate William who reportedly refused to cooperate initially but later confessed to the murder attempt, saying it was linked to an effort to make money though rituals.
His alarmed father reportedly rushed to the police station to report, leading to the arrest of the teenagers.
