Former Greater Accra regional minister Joshua Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo says his preferred candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership will be the minority leader in Ghana’s parliament, Haruna Iddrisu.
Afotey-Agbo says there are factions in the NDC, like in any other political party but he does not belong to any of the factions in the party.
Responding to a question on Joy FM’s Personality Profile Show, yet to be aired, Mr [Afotey-Agbo] said he will support Haruna Iddrisu to be the party’s flagbearer in future.
“I like the minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu, He is my darling boy/man; If he was a woman, I would have married her,” he said.
The full interview will be aired Thursday evening on Joy FM.
Pressure is mounting on the NDC to go for an early congress to elect new party executives and a flagbearer who will lead the party to capture power from the NPP in the 2020 elections.
The NDC’s defeat to the NPP in the 2016 elections has led to acrimony and blame-game as to who and what led to the incumbent’s downfall.
