Ghana is currently at the sidelines of a terrible outbreak of meningitis and all too soon, parliament is putting strict measures in place to ensure the outbreak does not fester.
The outbreak, which is feared to have struck various regions of the country has amounted to the deaths of close to 50 persons since January. Also, students at the Kumasi Academy are feared to have suffered bouts of mysterious deaths – a situation which has seen parents and students shocked and taken aback.
Meningitis is bacteria that enters the bloodstream and travel to the brain and spinal cord causing acute bacterial meningitis. This can be caused through an ear or sinus infection.
