Joe Mettle wins Artiste of the Year at VGMA 2017
Gospel musician Joe Mettle has become the first ever artiste of the genre to win the coveted Artiste of the Year at the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs).
He beat competition from Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, MzVee, EL and Medikal. Mettle also won the award for the gospel act of the year.
The Artiste of the Year Award is given to the artiste(s) adjudged by the Academy, Board and the general public as having the highest audience appeal and popularity in a particular year.
To win the topmost award, an artiste must have released a hit single/album during the year under review.

Other top winners of the night are - Highlife sensation Kofi Kinaata had three honours, Stonebwoy won two awards, VVIP amassed two, M.anifest had three and Adina also received two awards as well.

Lifetime Achievement Award - Papa Yankson
