Mr. Bentil, local private law practitioner, said that acts of impunity perpetrated by New NPP affiliated groups following the party's ascent to power after the December elections have eroded a lot of the party's moral ground. The IMANI Ghana Vice President further stated that if steps to control these groups weren't taken they may erode the party's good will.

According to Mr. Bentil, these acts of impunity not only destabilizes Ghana's national security, but also cast tremendous doubt over the governing NPP's dedication towards the rule of law and the fight against crime.

“This is taking a lot of moral high ground from the NPP. If this doesn’t stop, this will be the beginning of the end of the NPP,” said Mr. Bentil, speaking on Joy FM's Newsfile on Saturday.

Acts perpetrated by the Delta Force and the Invincible forces - both NPP affiliated groups - have been widely condemned by members of the public. This to the extent that even the current British High Commissioner, Mr. Jon Benjamin, has publicly expressed that the these groups have no place in a 21st century democracy.

Mr. Bentil went on to refer to the group's attack on the judiciary as "frightening" and "unacceptable", adding that judges are highly respected in society and that an attack on a court was a serious development.

“The court is the final bulwark of our democracy, if we start attacking courts, we are all going to be subjects to the rule of the jungle.”

“Judges are people we call ‘My Lord’, we give them titles that we ordinarily give God …Even the president’s actions are subject to the review of a judge so the last thing you do is to attack a court,” he added.

He also touched on the fact that some NPP members were comparing The Delta Force and Invincible Force's actions with those of the montie 3, calling the fact disappointing.
