President Nana Akufo-Addo has warned and banned government officials from purchasing state vehicles that are more than three years old.

… That policy will no longer work. No official is going to have the opportunity to buy an official car. Nobody is going to have that capacity anymore,” President Akufo-Addo stated at a press conference on Monday

He opined that this policy that has worked in the past has also been abused, thus his decision to ban it.

President Akufo-Addo also noted that there is a temporary ban on the purchase of new vehicles by government as well.

The president’s comment comes after the brouhaha over some state vehicles that were declared missing after the NPP administration took over from the erstwhile NDC government.
