The court chose to treat the 13 leniently due to the fact that they were all first time offenders. This coupled with the fact that they had all voluntarily turned themselves in, saving the police service the trouble of locating and apprehending them.
According to Graphic Online's Donald Ato Dapatem, unlike last week's court sitting, this time around there was a heavier security presence as the Ghana Police Service deployed more officers to protect the court.
The accused are namely Kojo Fosu Bamba aka Kojo Bamba, Awal Sadat Abubakar, Abubakar Sadiq Abuhammed, Jamil Issa, Hamza Mohammed, Salu Issahak, Akwasi Owusu, Kwabena Owusu, Kofi Kyei, Eggya Boadi, Salu Yussif, Yussif Salu and Kwaku Awortwe.
With the last week's escape charges address, the accused 13 will reappear in court on April 20th in order for the court to address their previous charges of conspiracy to commit crime, assault on a public officer, causing unlawful damage and preventing a public officer from performing his lawful duties.
