The fight against illegal mining is getting tougher by the day as some illegal miners at Akwatia in the Eastern region are threatening to vote out the Akuffo-Addo administration if government takes them out of the galamsey business.
Speaking to Joy FM, many of these concerned miners say they are bound to plunge into poverty if government considers its decision.

“Does the Lands Minister [Peter Amewu] want us to sit home?. I have sat home for eight years and we want to make money because our government is in power but they want to stop us,” one illegal miner fumed
So far, government has revealed a 5 year plan to tackle the menace of galamsey as Chinese officials also raise concern over the mode by which the media has been narrating the scourge against government.
