Former president Mahama has finally reacted to calls for him to run for president in 2020.
John Mahama at a crucial meeting with party executives described these calls as “premature” stating that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) rather considers tackling the reasons why it lost the 2016 elections.
“I believe people calling for leadership and presidency, it’s absolutely premature. If you ride a lame horse into a race and you lose the race, your priority must be to cure the lameness of the horse and not about who will ride the horse again. You have to cure the horse and make sure it’s no longer lame,” he argued.
So far, the minority leader of the party, Haruna Iddrisu, remains the leading figure likely to represent the party in 2020 amidst diverse against his prospective nomination
