Former Burkina Faso and Kotoko goalkeeper, Soulama Abdoulaye, is said to be critically ill and on admission at the Banfora Regional Hospital Centre in Burkina Faso.
Abdoulaye is said to have already lost his sight and is bed-ridden at the hospital.
The governor of the Cascades Region in Burkina Faso paid the former Kotoko goalkeeper a visit, according to a report by kickgh.com.
Doctors are said to be struggling to treat the 37-year-old to enable him return home.
The kichgh.com report quoted his family members as saying that Abdoulaye has received financial support from former Burkinabe international, Rahim Ouedraogo and other well-wishers.
Abdoulaye, who also played for Hearts of Oak, made headlines last year when he scored an own goal that enabled Kotoko to beat Hearts 1-0 in a crucial match.
