Former Black Star, Michael Essien's Indonesian club has revealed that he it has not acquired the proper immigration paperwork for the former Chelsea midfielder.

Michael Essien's recent move to the top Indonesian football club Persib Bandung seems to have been plagued by controversy from the beginning.
From his debut game where he almost fought with a rival team's player, to today's reports that has him working in Indonesia without the proper documentation.
In his defense, Mr. Essien's team, Persib Bandung, has admitted to not having acquired the proper paperwork from authorities prior to Michael Essien's first game, even though it says it sought to do so. Although the permits were not ready on time, the club states that the football association and league organizers had given the go ahead for Michael Essien to play.

In the same predicament as Michael Essien is Carlton Cole, a former Chelsea striker, who was also sign on by Persib Bandung in the clubs bid to boost Indonesian football and bounce back from a FIFA suspension.
Persib Bandung's management will now be questioned b Indonesian immigration officials due to the two players' immigration status.
The club's manager, Umuh Muchtar, accused the Sports Agency of going too far.
“That they are here is a joy for us, they want to raise up Indonesia’s name in the world,” he said, adding, “...Everybody knows that Essien is a world-class player, not an illegal immigrant.”
