The National Democratic Congress (NDC) clearly can't handle being out of government.
During a press conference organised by the party executives, they stated that NDC could not wait in opposition for four years and watch President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government bring havoc and chaos to Ghana.
According to NDC, ever since Nana Addo took over the helm of affairs, Ghana has been retrogressing from all the advances made by the previous NDC government as lead by former president John Mahama.
The press conference by the party was organised to counter Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s town hall meeting dubbed #askBawumia held on Monday April 17, 2017.
Deputy Minority Leader James Avedzi Klutse said the 100 days of the current government has been a reign of violence, lawlessness and insecurity.
“Ghana cannot wait for four years of incompetence. Ghana cannot wait for four years of hardship. Ghana cannot wait for four years of bribery in high places", he stated.
He continued to poke at the size of Nana Addo's cabinet of ministers, which the NDC had priorly described as "elephantine" and "inefficient".
"Ghana cannot wait for four years of 110 elephant sized ministers- Mr President, listen to the plea of most well-meaning Ghanaians and drastically prune down your government”
Presidential elections in Ghana are held every four years and the next one is expected at the natural end of current president Nana Addo's term in office in December 2020.
But with the NDc's assertion, one is yet to determine their plan of action.
