-Ethnic clashes between Nkonya-Alavanyo residents has claimed the lives to two persons
- These clashes have been blamed on the community of Alavanyo
- The interior ministry has tightened curphew hours from 11pm to 5 AM
There have been renewed clashes at Nkonya in the Volta Region with two persons feared to have been shot dead.
Police reports that the clashes were caused by the rival community of Alavanyo inspite of a 10 year old curfew on in the region.
“The soldiers on the ground were monitoring events because the attack was coming from that (Alavanyo) direction,We sent the task force to the ground and they are helping the military to maintain law and order.This morning there is an emergency meeting of the Security Council in Nkonya and they are going to advise us on what to do,” the Kpando Divisional Police Chief Superintendent, Prosper Ahwirigya, revealed to Joy FM.
Meanwhile, investigations have been opened into the clash as a renewed curfew, according to a statement signed by the Minister and copied to the media, starts from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am.
