The former Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, Alhaji Mohammed Sani has alleged that the founder of his party, out of spite, voted for the governing New Patriotic Party in the 2016 general elections.
Alhaji Sani made these allegations on radio, days after the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had met with his predecessors to tap into their wisdom and experiences.
According to the former vice chairman, Jerry John Rawlings has clearly shown that he is now an enemy to the party he founded and his gesture of supporting the sitting president is nothing but treachery against the NDC.
“Rawlings is a son of the NPP and I am not afraid to say this on radio,” Alhaji Sani said.
He continued, “From days leading to the elections and even on elections day, Rawlings has done everything possible to sabotage the NDC, a party he founded.
“I am reliably informed that Rawlings did not even vote for Mahama during the elections.”
Alhaji Sani then challenged the former president to swear by a river if he voted for the flagbearer of the NDC during the recent elections.
”I am daring Rawlings, if he thinks he is a man, he should swear with Antoa Nyama that he actually voted for Mahama in the 2016 elections. Rawlings has always believed in Antoa Nyama more than anything else and I am challenging him to swear by Antoa,” he charged.
