Amanda Afriyie, wife of Black Star player Afriyie Acquah, has stated that her referral to her estranged husband as “monkey” was never in a derogatory manner, but that it was rather a term of endearment.

Following the leaking of an audio file in late 2015 where Amanda Afriyie referred to her husband as a “Monkey”, Black Stars midfielder Afriyie Acquah was subjected to widespread ridicule on both traditional, and social media.

She further revealed on the audio that she had been sleeping with her husband’s teammate, Jordan Ayew, for four years prior to her marriage with Afriyie Acquah. She went on to brag about Jordan’s sexual prowess and the size of his manhood.

Now, over a year after the incident, Amanda has sought to correct the public on the issue. According to star footballer’s wife, the name “Monkey” was just a pet name she used to refer to her estranged husband.

She went on to add that the two used to use pet names to refer to each other all the time, saying that her husband even used to refer to call her “Rat”.

In a recent interview on GhONE

“I even used to call Ken [Kenpong] ‘Dzata’ (Lion) because he is very wild.”

“We met on Skype, I just saw him standing there looking so tall, I was just looking at his six packs and his thighs and I was like Oh this guy! You are not going anywhere, you are mine… all the girls should know he is still mine forever,” she cautioned.
