- The presidency has appointed metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives
- The appointment comes in the wake of seeming opposition among party members
President Akufo-Addo has named 212 persons for the positions of chief executive across various Metropolitan, Municipal and District (MMDCEs) in the country.
Sector minister in charge of local government, Hajia Alima Mahama is therefore calling for calm in the wake of various factions rejecting Nana Addo’s appointments.
What YEN gathers from this message by the minister is that the presidency is very much aware of the plights of party members who claim the president is appointing his friends instead of well experienced technocrats who can best relate to them as constituents.
So far, the appointment of DCEs and MMDCEs has sparked public outrage among concerned youth especially of the Ashanti Region ( the strong hold of the New Patriotic Party) who threaten to vote out the party if the president does not give them the power to determine who takes the position of DCE and MMDCEs.
