- The NDC has mocked Ken Agyapong for threatening to drink poison if Ibrahim Mahama is not jailed.
- The party says Ibrahim has done no wrong to warrant jail time
- It says it is willing to assist Agyapong with free poison for him to swallow
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has mocked Kennedy Agyapong, the member of parliament for Assin Central, over his threat to take his life.
A few weeks ago, YEN.com.gh reported Agyapong's claim that he would take his life by swallowing poison if the government did not jail Ibrahim Mahama, who he said had defrauded the state.
Agyapong was referring to claims that Ibrahim presented dud cheques worth about GHc10 million to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to clear import duties he owed the organisation.
But in a reaction on Accra-based Adom FM, the NDC's Bernard Allotey Jacobs, said Ibrahim had done nothing that would earn him jail time.
He said the party would, therefore, gladly provide the MP with the poison to end his life.
“My friend Kennedy Agyapong said he will poison himself if Ibrahim Mahama is not jailed. In fact, the poison is ready. We will bring it to him live on TV where he made those comments for him to drink because I know Ibrahim Mahama is innocent," he said.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Bature, the managing editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper, has said that Ibrahim Mahama loves President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Bature said Ibrahim had privately praised Akufo-Addo for his efforts to empower local businesses.
