- John Dramani Mahama has “saluted” all Ghanaians as the world commemorates May Day
- The May Day celebrations comes under the theme “Ghana @60: Mobilizing for Ghana’s future through the creation of decent jobs”
Former president, John Dramani Mahama has wished workers well as the world marks May Day today.
The ex-president, on his Twitter handle wished the best for all workers saying; “It's Workers’ Day. I join my fellow countrymen and women to salute you all, gallant Ghanaian workers,” Mr Mahama said in a tweet.
May Day celebrations in Ghana will be marked by a national parade at the Independence Square with the president, Akufo-Addo, expected to grace the occasion.
.The theme for this year’s celebrations; “Ghana @60: Mobilizing for Ghana’s future through the creation of decent jobs” comes in the wake of various labour unrest especially in the erstwhile Mahama administration.
But even as Nana Addo resumed office as president of Ghana, government has also faced various challenges with the public sector with cases of conditions of service being the leading cause of threats to protest.
