Some students of the KAAF University College in the Central region are alleging school authorities have hired ‘machomen’ [in Ghanaian parlance are well built and masculine men] to drive away students owing fees.
YEN can report that the accountant of the school goes around the lecture halls with these ‘machomen’ to sack students who have defaulted and are indebted to the school.
“The school authorities together with the macho men stood at the gate with a list and if they check through the list and you are owing, then the macho men will beckon you to go back home and if you try to resist they force you out of the school compound. Most of the students from the first year to final year have been sent home for owing as little as GHC50,” a student told StarrFMonline.com in an interview.
But an administrator of the school by name, Sammy said the ‘machomen’ are only security guards of the school.
He added the school resorted to the ‘rambo-style’ action because students have refused to heed to the countless warning given them.
“Those guys are not machomen, they are our own security officers. We are using them because the students refused to an earlier warning that they should come to the exams hall if you owe fees,” he said.
