- Alban Bagbin has registered his plans to contest for presidency in 2020
- The resolve for his candidature follows claims of Jerry Rawlings not wanting Mahama to contest the elections

Konoba Joe reveals that “what Hon. Alban Bagbin has done since 1992 is to serve his people and that call is emanating again. That call is for him to even occupy a higher position to serve the party well and that is the position of the NDC flagbearership”.
Konoba in an interview with the media revealed that “everything has its season and this is a season for the re-organization of the party.
"He will heed to the calls of the people so that NDC years in opposition will not be plenty,” he stated.
The revelation made by the aide comes in the wake of speculations by the Alhajj newspaper that founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings is planning to kick out the former president, John Mahama from leading the party in the 2020 elections.
A publication by the Al Hajj newspaper, which was picked up by YEN claims that some key personalities of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are secretly meeting the Rawlingses at Ridge “to launch image smearing campaign and scathing attacks on immediate-past president, Mr John Mahama as soon as the committee submits its report in order to “convince members of the party not give him another opportunity to lead the party.”
