Disregard Kyeremanten resignation rumors - Aide

- Trade Minister Kyerematen's aide has dismissed resignation reports by al-Hajj newspaper

- Aide expressed that Hon. Kyerematen's relationship with President Nana Addo is still good and strong

Mr. Davis Opoku Ansah, aide to Trade Minister Hon. Alan Kyerematen, has debunked reports alleging that the Trade Minister is getting ready to resign due to feelings of redundancy related to his ministry.

Over the last couple of days the al-Hajj newspaper reported that Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen been readying himself in order to resign his cabinet minister position because he allegedly felt that “dumped” and “redundant”.

According to the al-Hajj’s report, Mr. Kyerematen has been reduced to a “lame duck”, not even being able to appoint the heads of institutions and agencies under his own ministry.

None of the people he penciled to head agencies under his ministry were considered by the Presidency…” alleged the al-Hajj’s source.

Now in a post on his personal Facebook profile on Tuesday, May 2, Mr. Davis Opoku Ansah asked members of the general public to disregard the false news. He expressed that the Trade Minister’s relationship with President Akufo Addo is still in good shape, saying “Nana Addo believes in Alan and Alan believes in Nana Addo and his style of leadership”.

Mr. Kyerematen has made three previous attempts to secure the position of flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party. He first attempted to secure the position in 2007 and won 32 percent of votes cast, coming in second behind President Akufo Addo’s 47.96 percent of votes cast.

He subsequently made two more attempts for the flag bearer position in 2010 and 2014, all of which were unsuccessful.
