The brother of the former president John Mahama was alleged to have issued over 20 dud cheques in 2015 to the Customs Division of the GRA, being duties for imports of equipment.

Mr. Mensah said the Authority got alarmed when the cheques were taken to the banks only to be told that the “accounts were closed.”

The matter led to the anti-graft agency the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to invite Ibrahim Mahama to assist with investigations into the matter.
