- The government of Ghana has reportedly cleared all debts owed to caters under the school feeding program
- Having paid the arrears of GH¢149 million, government will soon pay for the next academic year too according to Mrs Gifty Twum Ampofo
YEN.com.gh has learnt that the government of Ghana has successfully clear all areas owed caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Program (GSFP).
This was revealed by the Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Mrs Gifty Twum Ampofo in an interview with the Daily Graphic newspaper.
The caterers had complained about their inability to continue providing the pupils with food due to government’s indebtedness to them.
In 2016, the caterers under the GSFP threatened to lay down their tools due to the debt owed them by government.
According to Gifty Twum Ampofo, the quick payment by government was to ensure a smooth and effective continuation of the GSFP.
She also stated that the NPP-led government was also taking steps to pay caterers of the GSFP for the next academic year (2017/2018).
