Peter Mahama, a brother of former president John Mahama, is said to have been invited by the Upper East Regional branch of the Economic and Organised Office (EOCO).

The financial crimes body is said to have asked Mahama to provide it with some documents relating to his quarry business.

According to the Al-Hajj newspaper which broke the news, EOCO's Upper East office asked him to submit documents on his tax payments, workers’ SSNIT contributions and contracts executed by his company so far.,

Mahama is reportedly based in the Wale Wale District of the Northern Region.

It is not exactly clear why EOCO is investigating Mahama's dealing, but there is speculation that it may relate to tax evasion.

Barely a week ago, Ibrahim Mahama, another brother of the former president, was forced by EOCO to pay a GHc12 million debt he owed to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in import duties.
