- A high school senior took his mother to prom
- He took her because she didn't go to her own prom about 20 years earlier
- He wanted her to experience prom
A high school senior in Charlotte, North Carolina in the US recently took his mother as his special date to prom.
Rayquan Howard, a student at East Mecklenburg High, made the thoughtful gesture because his mother, Rochelle Howard-Moss, missed her own prom when she was in high school about 20 years earlier.
In an interview with a local TV channel, Rayquan said: "She didn't get to go to her prom, so I made it a priority to take her to my prom. It's always been on my heart. I wanted to make it special."
What made his gesture all the more touching is that his mother missed her prom because she was close to giving birth to him and could not risk going out.
Howard-Moss expressed her joy at finally experiencing the prom after so many years.
She said: "Words cannot even explain this moment. It's been 18-20 years and I never thought I'd get this moment but he wanted me to have a high school prom."
Awww, so heart melting! What a thoughtful boy Rayquan is. Watch their interview in the video below.
