- A mother has shared her journey to motherhood
- She tried for five years and had a miscarriage
- She has finally succeeded and calls her baby "rainbow baby"
A mother has shared her challenging but inspiring journey to motherhood.
Identifying herself only as Rose, she shared her story on the Instagram page of I Am Motherhood, an initiative started by TV presenter Janet Mbugua to celebrate motherhood.
Rose began by making a simple but powerful statement: "I have always wanted to be a mum."
She said that she struggled to conceive since she got married five years ago, adding that she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome.
To treat her infertility, she had to use fertility medicines and injections, which however made her sick.
Rose said she eventually conceived but lost her pregnancy at 16 weeks, after which she fell into depression.
She feared that she may never hold her biological baby in her hands.
However, Rose never gave up. She finally had her baby, whom she refers to "rainbow baby."
She concluded: "I have learnt a lot about my journey and life in this journey. The one that stands out is that the journey to motherhood is not a straightforward path."
