With it being international Mother's Day, Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has expressed a message of love and gratitude towards his mother, Madam Hajia Mariama Bawumia.

Born the thirteenth child out of nineteen children of his family, and second out of his mother's five, Dr. Bawumia certainly knew what it's like to come from a big family.

According to Madam Hajia Mariama Bawumia, Dr. Bawumia has always been a popular figure wherever he goes, and has been the driving force that has helped make the Bawumia name a household one.

Affectionately recounting some of her son's adorable traits growing up, Madam Bawumia stated that Vice President Bawumia always had a yearning for knowledge. He incessantly pestered older people with questions in order to get to the answers he desired.

She also related that, as all teenagers do, Vice President Bawumia was a bit of a radical in his youth but also that exuberance was checked because the family never spared the rod to spoil the child.

She also debunked rumors that the Vice President had a fear for public speaking. According to Madam Hajia Mariama Bawumia, her son always had a keen interest for debates and always excelled in them. This so much so that his interest in debates eventually got TAMASCO to be crowned the best debating team in the Northern and Upper Regions in 1981.
