Police arrest soldier and taxi driver for alleged robbery

YEN.com.gh has learnt that the police command in Baatsona have arrested a military man for alleged robbery.

According to media reports, the military personnel was stationed at the 37 Military Hospital.

The military man, Corporal Bernard Tsagli, had allegedly connived with a taxi driver called Joseph Ansah. The duo had ganged up with three other military personnel to commit the act.

According to a police report, the suspects stay lurking around banks, waiting to attack customers who withdraw money on their way out.

After receiving several complaints about their activates, the police mounted intelligence which led to the arrest of one of the military personnel in the company of the taxi driver in Accra.

Speaking to the issue, he Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Osaberima Oware Asare Pinkron III told the Daily Guide newspaper that he police acted on a complaint they received.

The report says, “on May 8, 2017 that at about 11am the previous day, she went to withdraw an amount of GH¢1,500 from a bank on the Spintex road, community 18 junction”.

DCOP Pinkron said while investigation was ongoing, on May 14, 2017, police intelligence led to the arrest of an Opel Astra taxi with registration number GM 8155-13 being occupied by four military men in uniforms around Nhyiraba Kojo City Nite Club, near the Global Access Bank, Sakumono, community 18.

Corporal Tsagli was arrested together with Joseph Ansah, but two other supposed military personnel managed to escape arrest.

The two have denied the offence but investigations are still ongoing.
