- A Kenyan couple has been waiting to have a child for 10 years
- The wife said she lost her sister during childbirth and this affected her
- She was diagnosed with ovarian cysts and endometriosis
Almost everyone who gets married looks forward to having kids at some point in their married life.
For Kenyan couple Ken Trip Okoye and his wife Editah Hadassah Trip, this was no different. However, 10 years after getting married, they are yet to have a baby despite their best efforts.
The two shared their story with Eve Woman Magazine and recalled that they first met in 2001 in church.
They lost contact before meeting again after three years. This time, they deepened their friendship and eventually tied the knot.
Editah, 33, said she was initially apprehensive about having a child because her elder sister had passed away during childbirth.
As time went on, however, they grew concerned that they were not conceiving despite Editah having her periods regularly.
Ken, 38, said: “After three to four years, we realized that there was probably something wrong." They both went for tests, which indicated that they was nothing wrong with either of them.
However, Editah started experiencing severe cramps and pain during her menstrual cycle, forcing her to go for further tests.
The tests first revealed she had ovarian cysts, which doctors removed, and later endometriosis, which necessitated surgery.
The two have not given up on their dream of raising a family. Edith hopes God will answer her prayers of having two children—a boy and a girl.
