- An Accra high court has refused galamseyer, Aisha bail on a second attempt
- The Chinese woman expressed her anger at the judge upon the refusal
The Chinese lady at the centre of illegal mining activities in the Eastern, Western and Ashanti regions of Ghana, Aisha Huang on Tuesday visibly showed her anger when the court refused her bail.
According to YEN’s court reporter, Aisha broke down in tears after the judge turned down her bail application.
The judge, Justice Edward Ekow Baiden said he needed to thoroughly study the arguments of both prosecution and defence lawyer to be able to give a very good ruling.
The frustrated Aisha after the adjournment questioned her lawyer why the judge has refused her bail again.
She is expected to re-appear in court on June 2, for ruling.
Aisha and five other Chinese nationals are facing trial for their involvement in illegal mining in Ghana. A criminal high court in Accra has remanded into prison custody the 31-year-old Chinese woman and her colleagues.
She was nabbed by the Ghana Immigration Service after she made the headlines for allegedly escaping several arrests in her illegal operations in mining.
She was arrested at her residence in Kumasi two weeks ago.
