VIDEO: Thief forced to eat hot pepper instead being beaten up

What would you do to a thief if you caught him? In Africa, the default answer by most locals includes “beat him to death” or even “kill him”.

In a video spotted by YEN, a suspected thief met a different though “fiery” end.

The video starts with one man, supposedly the person who caught the thief, saying they have caught a thief and would force him to eat pepper.

Speaking in French, he says, “This is a thief, now here is pepper”.

He then pushes bowl containing something suspected to be pepper to the suspected thief.

The young man, who looks like he is in his early 20s proceeds to put the said pepper into his mouth as another person who is shown asks him “Est-ce bon?”, to wit, “is it nice?”

The regretful replies, no and proceed to advise people to desist from stealing.

However, some users of social media have condemned the actions.

Some users commented that no matter the crimes committed by the said thief, no one should take the laws into their own hands and subjects others to such “horrendous” treatments.

Other users however supported the actions.

Lynching in Africa has become a huge issue with countries like Nigeria and South Africa with a record high number of suspected thieves been beaten up, even almost to the point of death.
