Captain Maxwell Mahama on Monday was lynched and killed by the youth of Denkyira Boase on suspicion he was an armed robber.
The military officer was the commander of the area military detachment. Captain Mahama was with the 5th Infantry Battalion (5BN) at the Burma Camp in Accra.
Captain Mahama went jogging along the main roads of Diaso with a gun and was mistaken for an armed robber by a woman who raised alarm. This led to the unfortunate lynching of the young officer.
According to an eyewitness, the military officer pleaded with the mob not to lynch him but his plea fell on deaf ears.
