The police in the Ashanti region has arrested a 12-year-old boy at Manso Nkwanta Saturday for his involvement in the lynching of the Army Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama.
The police also nabbed a woman who was seen in the video lighting the officer's body to fire in the Ashanti region.
The latest development brings the total number of people arrested in connection to the murder to 18.
The Ashanti region spokesperson of the Ghana Police, Juliana Obeng who confirmed the arrest to the media said the suspects have been transported to the CID national headquarters of the Ghana Police in Accra to assist with investigations.
“We know that they have something one way or the other with the murder of Captain Mahama,” she noted.
Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama was lynched by some residents of Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region after being mistaken for an armed robber.
The late Captain and his colleagues from the 5th Infantry Battalion were deployed to fight illegal miners in the area.
Meanwhile, the body of the Captain will be buried on Friday, June 9. The family also said there will be three separate funerals for the officer.
One in Accra, one in Bole, the paternal grandmother’s hometown in the Northern Region and the last one at Tumu, the paternal grandfather’s hometown in the Upper West Region.
