Kumawood producers are known to make movies based on tragedies that occur in the country, because such movies would be popular when they are released.

But this time, some Ghanaians do not want Major Mahama's tragedy to be the basis for a Kumawood movie in order not to promote lynching.

Even actress Nana Ama McBrown has spoken out against producing a movie based on the soldier's predicament.

In an interview, she said Kumawood should not glorify Major Mahama's killing by making such a movie.

A poster of a movie title "Soldiernii Mahama Amanehunu Part 1 & 2" has been trending on social media, but it appears to have been photoshopped for fun.

Still, it provoked several reactions on Facebook.

Police say Major Mahama was going for a 20 kilometre walk when he was attacked by the people of Denkyira Obuasi, led by their assembly man, William Baah.

According to the official police account of the killing, the soldier left his base in civilian clothing, but carried his official pistol with him Ten kilometres into the walk, police say he stopped to buy snails from some women who were selling by the road.

The women, according to the police, spotted the weapon on him, and thinking he was a thief, they called their assembly man, who then organised the town to lynch him.

Over 40 people, including lactating mothers, have been arrested in connection with the killing.

The family of the late major Mahama plan to bury him at the Osu Cemetary on Friday.
