Being touted as one of Ghana's and Africa’s finest female directors, Shirley Frimpong Manso once again lived up to the task with the release of a new movie. Her latest production hit the global market after it was premiered in France during the Cannes Film festival.
The “Adam’s Apples” director known for her solid storylines made a good showing with her latest creation when she exhibited her work at the international film event.
“Potato potahto” is a comedy of errors about a divorced couple who decided to share the same house despite their separation.
The main characters of the movie, Tony and his ex-wife Lulu are in a competition to outdo each other in their house by falling prey to their own tricks.
Both of them hire house helps of the opposite gender and that is what sparks the drama in the house.
Being a writer also, Shirley Frimpong Manso said she had depicted issues about relationships, love and marriages in many of her movies. She therefore decided to look at another aspect of life; divorce. Even though no one likes to discuss the topic, she was creative about it and added a lot of laughter to the subject matter.
The movie is one of a kind since it was co-produced by experts from Ghana, Nigeria, Britain, France and Sweden. The movie is set to put Ghanaian and African cinema on the global stage in terms of movie production.
The cast of the movie is made up of the crème de la crème in the Ghanaian and Nigerian movie industries including OC Ukeje, Joselyn Dumas, veteran Nigerian actress Joke Silva, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Chris Attoh, Lala Akindoju, Nikki Samonas, Adjetey Anang and Victoria Micheals.
Co-producer of the movie, Georges Williams added that the movie was made up of multinational content and cultures. The soundtracks featured in the comedy were recorded by artistes in Sweden, France, Britain, Ghana and Nigeria.
