- Lawyer Maurice Ampaw wants the “killers” of Major Mahama to be tortured until their death
- He believes that torturing the culprits would serve as a deterrent for people planning to partake in instant justice
Lawyer, Maurice Ampaw, has joined the sect of Ghanaians calling for a punishment of same measure for the culprits identified in the lynching of the late Major Maxwell Mahama.
The controversial lawyer has stated that a law should be passed in Ghana where culprits in a mob attack are made to undergo various degrees of torture until their death.
According to the legal officer, this sort of punishment will make mob justice and lynching unattractive to Ghanaians and deter them from participating in them.
“The culprits should be tortured to death at a public square so that it would serve as a deterrent to others not to engage in mob justice”, he suggested.
Lawyer Ampaw lamented how several individuals in Ghana are being killed as part of acts of mob justice across the country.
He called on the appropriate authorities to use the killers of Major Maxwell Adam Mahama as test case for others to learn from after prosecution.
His comments on Agoo TV come of the one week memorial of Major Maxwell Adams Mahama.

About 43 suspects have since been arrested in connection with the gruesome crime and are standing trial.
