Woman, 37, who once weighed 153kg shares how she lost 75kg in 4 years

A Zimbabwean woman has shared her amazing experience of how she transformed herself from an overweight 153kg frame to a healthy 78kg one in just four years.

Speaking to Zimbabwe's Herald, 37-year-old Sheila Mukize said although she was born with a large body size, it is her craving for fast food that ballooned her weight.

The sales and marketing representative said she grew so fat that a blood pressure check band couldn't even fit around her arm.

She said: “I was in denial and avoided scales, cameras, and mirrors. I didn’t feel comfortable or pretty; I would be called chubby and when I realised that’s how people saw me, I knew I had to change."

She finally embarked on her weight loss transformation in 2013 because her blood pressure became too high.

Sheila is now a trim 78kg after losing a whopping 75kg in four years

Sheila determinedly changed her diet and discarded fast food. She turned to spinach, fruits and salads as her new diet's mainstays. She also worked out about five times a week.

Her workouts include jogging, cycling, aerobics and weight lifting. She advises those wishing to shed weight to focus on the long term because there are no shortcuts.

It's been a long journey but she says she's finally happy

Four years later and 75kg lighter, Sheila says she is finally happy.

She said: “I used to run from cameras, but now I like what I see in photos. I’m finally at peace with the way I look.”
