Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo, has lauded President Nana Akufo-Addo for posthumously promoting the late Captain Maxwell Mahama to major.
Akufo-Addo made the announcement during the "one-week observation" of the late soldier on Monday.
The news was well-received by many Ghanaians, especially because Major Mahama (then Captain) had been due for promotion to major before his untimely death.
He was one examination away from getting the promotion, YEN.com.gh understands.
Reacting to the news on Twitter on Wednesday, Dumelo expressed gratitude to the president and prayed for God's blessings for him.
Dumelo later paid a visit to the family of the late soldier to commiserate with them on their loss.
Major Mahama was lynched by a mob which, police say, mistook him for a thief at Denkyira Obuasi.
His burial has been set for Friday at the Osu Cemetery.
Meanwhile, information reaching YEN.com.gh suggests that the widow of the late soldier is three months pregnant.
