The party took the occasion to discuss a variety of issues, including the possible causes of John Maham’s defeat in the 2016 elections.

Mahama, then the incumbent president, was handed a heavy defeat by Nana Akufo-Addo, while majority of the NDC’s MPs also lost their seats of the opposition NPP.

Bagbin believes one of the reasons for his party’s loss was their inability to get the media on their side. In his view, the NPP “decided to invest in the private media” and it paid off.

The former Majority Leader also added that although the NPP boast lawyers et al, the NDC also had the men to govern the nation.

They have a few lawyers who are just good at writing and talking. But we have the men and women more than them,” he said.

He however lamented the fact that the NPP was now beating the NDC when it comes to lending financial support to run the party. He suggested that while the NPP faithful were contributing towards the party’s cause, some NDC members were rather looking to get money from the party.

Hon. Bagbin ended his submission by urging all NDC members to unite in helping return the party to power.
