- Madam Donkor, who has been an unrelenting critic of Akufo-Addo, did not provide evidence for to back her claim
Akua Donkor, the founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), has claimed that President Nana Akufo-Addo wants to kill her.
Madam Donkor made the claim in an interview after the burial service for Major Maxwell Mahama at the forecourt of the State House on Friday.
The politician and businesswoman claimed that Akufo-Addo sent assassins on several occasions to eliminate her, but they were unsuccessful.
She did not provide any evidence to back her claim.
Madam Donkor also claimed that Akufo-Addo killed Major Mahama.
She claimed Akufo-Addo sent Major Mahama to Denkyira Obuasi and directed the district chief executive and other government officials to kill him.
The bizzare claim drew condemnation for her from some members of the public, who asked her to go for psychiatric examination.
Madam Donkor has been a persistent critic of President Akufo-Addo since his day as the leader of the opposition.
She recently said in a interview that she did not recognise him as president of Ghana because he did not invite her to his inauguration.
She also accused Akufo-Addo of directing his aides not to invite her to state functions.
During the John Mahama administration, Madam Donkor was invited to virtually all state events and even followed the president on some foreign trips.
Under Akufo-Addo, however, she appears to have been sidelined due to her constant criticism of the president.
