At the funeral of Major Maxwell Mahama held at the State House in Accra, one female soldier just could not stop crying.
Photos which show the soldier inconsolable have been trending on social media and have touched many Ghanaians.
YEN.com.gh can report that a close examination of the female soldier's uniform reveals that she is a Corporal and that her surname is Mahama.
It is pertinent to ask, therefore, whether Corporal Mahama is a close relative of late Major Mahama or perhaps even his sister or cousin.
The answer to the question could explain why she was inconsolably sad at the burial of the fallen soldier.
Corporal Mahama's relentless crying in the trending photos suggests that she feels a sense of personal loss.
YEN.com.gh cannot immediately confirm, however, is she is Major Mahama's relative.
It is, in fact, entirely possible that she is not related to him in any way.
Whatever the case may be, the pictures of Corporal Mahama shedding tears exemplified the feeling of many Ghanaians who attended the burial service on Friday.
Deep pain and sorrow characterised the burial service, as many Ghanaians, including Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia and former president John Mahama, said their final goodbyes to the slain soldier.
The burial came two weeks after a vicious mob in the Central Regional town of Denkyira-Obuasi lynched Major Mahama after some people in the community mistook him for an armed robber.
