- So far, the GES says the 2017 BECE was without any case of examination malpractice
Online checks by YEN.com.gh reveals that the Religious and Moral Education (RME) paper of the just ended Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) could have been leaked.
So far, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has revealed that there were no or little suspicions of the leakage of a paper hence the successful nature of the 2017 BECE but a Facebook account with the title “ BECE APOR 2017” show that the RME paper of the BECE examinations could have been leaked.
"We are Truly Sorry, The Apor English Papers Came late ( 5min before the exam ). So we couldn't Provide the Answers along with the questions..But the R.M.E was on TIME," the post revealed.
Visiting the page, which is highly patronized by candidates of the BECE show that not only were the efforts to leak the English paper futile but also that of the RME paper was ready to be leaked.
In other developments, YEN.com.gh is learning that the 2017 BECE saw candidates questioned beyond their syllabus. In fact, some teachers who spoke to Joy FM have revealed that some questions regarding Integrated Science and was not within the approved syllabus.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) is yet to comment on these reports as it launches investigations into the matter.
So far, head of the GES at Sissala East, Leonard Ananobalong, has revealed that nine candidates, for some strange and unknown reasons, failed to sit their papers with three others confirmed dead.
The Upper East region forms part of several regions in the hinterlands to suffer poor performance in the BECE often due to the high levels of poverty and also the non-availability of reading materials for pupils.
