- The Chief's murderers is said to have fired several gunshots into his room before killing him with a machete
- Family members have link his killing with land litigation in the area
A Development Chief of Amasaman, a community in the Ga East Municipal in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Tettey Sarbah has been gruesomely murdered by some unknown assailants.
The killing of the Chief is suspected to be in connection with land litigation within the area.
A relative of the murdered Chief, Samuel Otu who confirmed his death explained that, they found him dead last Thursday in his room around 5am, hours after hearing gun shots at about 1am.
According to Otu, the family discovered Nii Tettey Sarbah’s lifeless body the next morning on a mat with a deep cut on his forehead.
He also added that there were other two deep cuts inflicted on his stomach in a pool of blood.
The member of the family in his account explained that, there were at least four bullet holes having pierced through his room as the assailants rained bullets into his house.
“Stories explaining the circumstances of his murder are rife but the general suspicion remains land litigation,” Samuel Otu confirmed.
The killing of Nii Sarbah has rekindled fears over the security of properties acquired in the Amasaman community.
Nii Sarbah was part of a retinue of chiefs who performed some purification rites at the Ardayman stool House.
Land litigation is said to be nightmares in the community, which has led to the death of one of the Achiaman Chief, Nii Kwartey Ajan in 2011.
More than six years later, another chief has been murdered in a similar circumstance.
