Fake Korle Bu Doctor nabbed by hospital security

- A fake doctor who's duped hundreds of victims has been apprehended at the former Ridge Hospital

- He allegedly lied to victims that he could help them get a NHIS card for the fee of GHC230

A man who's been posing as a medical doctor under the pretext of getting unsuspecting patients their National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards in Korle-Bu and the former Ridge Hospital was apprehended by hospital security.

Mr. Silas Prosper Kudiabor, a self-professed medical doctor who has allegedly conned hundreds of victims, was apprehended by Greater Accra Regional Hospital security after he failed to show up to meet one of his victims, prompting her to report the nefarious con man to the medical facility's personnel.

According to the Accra Regional Police Command Public Affairs Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mrs Afia Tenge, one victim happened to meet Mr. Kudiabor at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on June 5th, 2017, when he visited his brother who was on admission there.

Mr. Kudiabor, upon meeting the victim, introduced himself as a medical doctor posted at the facility and said he could aid the victim to acquire an NHIS card fast-track if he paid GHC230.

He also allegedly pointed out a locked door saying that that was his office and told the victim that he could see him there anytime. Upon receiving the funds, the victim said Kudiabor went into hiding.

A second victim is said to have met Kudiabor at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital while he [Kudiabor] was speaking to a taxi driver who was allegedly his classmate. The woman, having overheard Kudiabor tell the driver that he was a medical doctor posted at the facility, told Kudiabor about the difficulties she had experienced in acquiring the NHIS card.

Kudiabor again charged his fraudulent GHC230 fee and told he unsuspecting victim that he would help if the fee was paid. The woman then gave the can-man GHC110 saying she'd pay the rest later. Kudiabor then told the woman to meet him at the facility's gate to collect her card...a card that never came.

The woman is said to have gone looking for Kudiabor at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital in vain, prompting her to report the incident to the facility's security personnel. Hospital security then told the victim that Kudiabor was in fact not a doctor posted to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.

With this incident reported, hosppital security then decided to set a trap for the prolific con-man. On June 9th, 2017, he [Kudiabor] was spotted at the facility and was detained by security personnel.

He is said to have admitted his culpability and plead for leniency.
